The Co-operative movement in India was initiated primarily to address the challenges of rural credit and agricultural financing. In Jharkhand, the movement began with the registration and organization of Rural Agricultural Credit Co-operative Societies following the enactment of the Co-operative Societies Act of 1904.
Since its inception, the co-operative sector has played a vital role in strengthening rural economies, empowering farmers, and promoting financial inclusion across the state. It continues to serve as a cornerstone for community-based development and sustainable growth.
